Did the researchers study the effect of tricking young bats with metal plates to see how they reacted when encountering a true water pond? Or have the researchers now taught those bats that there is no water to be had there? Could they die of thirst, back in the wild? Did they follow through, to show they are smart AND compassionate? And NO, I am not a tree hugging animal rightist, I simply see no reason for wasting our planets’ resources.
